Over the next few weeks the Villanova community will be recognizing graduating seniors that have positively impacted their Student Organizations! The seniors being recognized have demonstrated dedication to their organization, provided outstanding leadership, and have remained committed to creating a welcoming atmosphere. Above all, they have been valued members of their organizations that will be missed!

Contributions: "Cassie lead the committee for two years, during which we accomplished more than we thought was possible. Under her guidance, the committee was truly able to flourish."

Yeralmi Massiel Valladares
Amnesty International / No Lost Generation
Position: President

Contributions: "Yeralmi Massiel Valladares dramatically increased participation in the Amnesty International/No Lost Generation advocacy club. Through her hard work and dedication, in Spring 2020 Villanova hosted its first ever Immigration Week, bringing much needed awareness to the difficulties facing migrants and refugees today."

Contributions: "Joelle is a bubbly person who is a friend to all. She willingly gives of herself to help others whenever she can. Joelle easily makes anyone she encounters feel valued and safe. Joelle lead a break trip abroad in arguably one of the most challenging times ever. She never let fear get in the way of things that could be done, made everyone feel comfortable, and supported others in the challenges they were facing. She is an active member of VEMS and holds one of the highest student positions. She helps to ensure students are safe on campus around the clock and jumps to action in their times of need. Joelle is a bright light in the lives of all those she encounters."

She's been integral to helping promote Filipino culture through a sense of community and friendship. Her passion, energy, and dedication will be greatly missed."

Contributions: "Her strong leadership and organization skills led to her putting together great social events all by herself. She demonstrated great cultural awareness and incorporated all aspects of the club, as well as, being such an inviting person to all members. She led her Peer Advisees extremely well and was always available for help and questions at any moment. Olivia was a great mentor for all of her advisees, helping them make major decisions."

Position: President of Kappa Delta, KD Team Captain for NOVAdance

Contributions: "Maeve's leadership and genuine compassion for others made her stand out to me as a leader. She took on her position with her whole heart, and it showed that she loved what she did. Although not one of our philanthropies or causes, Maeve wanted Kappa Delta to get more involved with raising awareness about mental health on campus. Along with some of our council members, Maeve organized a night of panels and talks about mental health that the entire campus, not only Greek Life, came out to support. When her term was over, she didn't sit back like others would. Instead, she applied to be our Team Captain for NOVAdance and continued to lead us in our fundraising efforts."

Contributions: "These four passionate and dedicated seniors were integral members of the Special Olympics 2019 Management Team, in charge of running the 31st Annual Fall Festival! Gabby Grieco, the 2019 Festival Director, led the charge and demonstrated noteworthy leadership while remaining focused on the "little things" in creating the best Fall Festival for the athletes and inspiring the team beside her. Mia McDonough, the 2019 Director of Administration, showed others the true meaning of athlete focus as she led her committees and spearheaded year-round mission-based initiatives to spread awareness of the importance of inclusion. Cardon Furry, the 2019 Director of Competition was able to coordinate and lead a team to organize and run every competition venue at Fall Festival, providing athletes with the platform to showcase their abilities and talents while uniting those participating through a common love and appreciation of sports. Finally, Gerard Catalfamo, the 2019 Director of Support Services, provided the strength and support every committee needed to execute the best possible weekend for the athletes by organizing the logistics, ensuring every small detail was covered, and leading through his powerful example. These four members of the Management Team served as guiding lights, mentors, and inspiration for all they served and led through their hard work, dedication, and passion for inclusion."

Contributions: "Vathana has been a member of SNAP for the past four years and during her time at Villanova she served as Secretary, Treasurer, and President of the Villanova chapter. She has been tireless in upholding the SNAP mission statement to promote young nurses’ professional development and personal growth, constantly working to expand and include more members of the M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing students. Specifically, Vathana headed the enormous task of restructuring and recording the processes and procedures by which SNAP was run with the intent to support incoming leadership and allow the organization to last far beyond her graduation. As President, and as a member of the nursing school, she displayed the crucial qualities of a leader: the ability to listen and adapt to critique, the passion to improve the lives of others, the dedication of her time and creativity, and the strength to carry her many responsibilities."
